Buying E-Books

I’m a firm believer that there is always something to be learned from an e-book. Unfortunately that “something” is not always worth paying for.

Tonight I headed over to the DigitalPoint Forums to pick up a few e-books, just to see if anything new was out. If you’re not as honorable and up-standing as I, the best way to buy an e-book is to find someone in the thread who has purchased the book and PM them for a discounted rate for “their” copy.
I was shocked at what kind of crap is being sold in the form of an e-book. These are essentially one blog post rolled into a few pages with print-to-PDF. These guys are then getting their buddies to write good reviews on the books and it goes from there.
I got ripped off by a 12 year old
You ever feel like you’ve just got done reading something written by a 12 year-old who has just opened their first Clickbank account? That’s what I’m feeling right now.
The brightest idea (yeah, the brightest) came from a 2 page e-book (one page discussed how to sign up for an affiliate program) which is being sold for $35+ that suggests you pay someone to fill leads for you and drive dirty traffic to make the conversion look normal. WOW! Brilliant! The book said I couldn’t resell that information, so I’ve got to be careful not to reveal any further details (hint: there are none).
I have gotten an incredible amount of information from E-Books such as Aaron Wall’s SEO book, RichJerk, and a few others. Don’t get me wrong, there are good ones out there. Just not on Digital Point.
Are you an E-Junkie?
Do you buy e-books often? Ever been ripped off by a 12 year-old with stupid ideas? Let’s have a talk… Leave me a comment!
I prefer not to buy e-books. Most of them are crap anyways. I read John Chows FREE e-book and got just as much out of it as I would the paid ones.
Plus… that’s what pirates bay is for.

Chow has some good info in his book as well. Definitely worth the time it takes to scan through it.
Pirates Bay is good for unethical e-book downloading which I would never participate in!

I have read many of them (I have only bough a couple though) and I have to say that 99% are crap. John Cow’s is one of the best. Same goes for Yaro Starak’s Profits Blueprint. And they are both free.
What I don’t really like is using unethical ways to make money….like fooling people into believing something which is not true. I don’t like pr0n / adult stuff either.
Both top choices, I must say.
Fooling me into buying an e-book which was written by a 12 year old is what I don’t like :). Ah well!

Hey now… easy on the adult stuff! Seriously though, I know this is crap on ebooks day, but I offer a refund to anyone not satisfied with my ebook. That, I think, is the difference. If you can provide some value you should get paid for it.

Offering a refund is a good way to guarantee satisfaction.. not many marketers are willing to do this because they know once they get your money they’re out of there, lol.

well, i don’t buy ebooks because i will for sure find free info about what i want. Although i admit i might write an ebook in a near future that will be paid….

Free info will always be out there, it’s the idea of buying secret advice or a tip that you don’t have to scour for hours to find that makes me buy e-books from time to time.
Let me know when your book is out and I will try out a copy

I used to be an e-junkie, and I will still buy the odd ebook but generally I find they contain they same old stuff all the other ebooks I own do. Therefore I realised that either I already knew when I needed to do, or they weren’t revealing the secret anyway. Either way, I now focus as much of my time on implementation than on “learning” and have got far better results.
